Malaysia Music Festival 2011

The search to discover new young talents to perform at the inaugural Malaysia Music Festival has finally ended. Last Saturday, twenty participants participated in the M-Fest live audition at the SEGi University College, Kota Damansara and nine of them were selected to take part in the music festival on 3rd December 2011. The festival which will be held at the Cheras Badminton Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Those selected will get to perform with some of the biggest local entertainers such as Yuna, Gary Chaw, Z Chen, Victor Wong, Bunkface, Ah Bin, Gin Lee, Danny One and ThomasJack. They were selected from various universities, backgrounds and nationalities.
Among those selected are a band consists of members from five different nations, a hip hop dance crew, musicians and vocalists.
Participants were chosen by a panel of judges comprised of popular hip hop artiste Danny One, music composer/ producer Xiao Qiang and veteran singer and music teacher Chew Paul Wah. This is the first local talent search which had attracted participations especially international students from more than 20 countries.
Yuna, who is one of the nine artistes featuring on M-Fest, said that this event is something fresh and she looking is forward to the outcome of the collaboration with a new talent. She will also collaborate for the first time with a Taiwan-based R&B artiste Z Chen at the festival.
The other Malaysian artistes who are participating in the music festival are Gary Chaw, Z Chen, Victor Wong, Bunkface, Thomas Jack, Ah Bin, Danny One and Gin Lee.
According to the organizers, live audition videos of the top 9 participants who were selected to perform at M-Fest will uploaded on the event online page, www.facebook.com/mfest2011, for online voting and those attending the festival will be given ballot papers to vote for the best crossover/performance.
Three participants with the highest votes will receive a cash prize and a trophy each. The winner will also receive a full scholarship for entry into the SEGi University College InteMaster of Business Administration programme or any SEGi University College homegrown degree programme,subject to winner meeting all entry requirements.
M-Fest 2011 is supported by the Federal Government as part of its development programme to encourage youths to participate in performing arts and to help make Klang Valley anentertainment hub. It is jointly presented and sponsored by Dell, Microsoft and SEGi University College. It is organized by GFW Urban Youth Sdn. Bhd.
